isolate the target image area,, in this case,, the young ladies playing soccer,,,
convert to greyscale,, in this case I used the "Tone" control because of the
darker background,, this enables to grey out the jpg without washing out the
detail as would happen with "Brite/Contrast" control alone,,, next,, lighten to
the point that the detail is still visible but light enough to drop when vectoring,,,
print out a copy of the greyed pic to a size comfortable enough to work on,,
in this case,, on an 8 1/2x 11 printer page,, then it's a matter of outlining the
basics and then going back to pull shadows/highlights,,, this was done with felt tip
marking pens on the printout pic,, if you mess up,, print another,,simple really,, then,,
rescan the pic into your tracing/vectoring prog,, in this case,, Streamline4,,,
the scaned shot was converted on basic default settings in this case,, depending
on your vectoring prog,, you may need to experiment a bit with the settings to
get the results you're after,,, that's basically it,,, Good Luck on it !!!
edit,,,
the shots got a tad out of sequence here in uploading it seems,, but it's there,,
you just have to scratch your head a bit to figure it out,,, (hahaha,, my bad)
