Tommy Lee Jones home town, San Saba, Texas.

Whats going on here is that this old hotel "The Burden Hotel", from the 1850's, sets just across the street sets back some facing the court house.

Nathaniel Burden built the Burden Hotel in 1857. It was the fourth building to be built in San Saba. It was also the first stone building to be erected.

According to the 1860 census, Burden lived at the hotel with his wife, Sarah, and his four children. When Burden died in 1870, his daughter, Sarah Burden Yarbrough, and her husband, John Deskin Yarbrough, operated the hotel. Some of their descendants still reside in San Saba County.

The Burden Hotel stands west of the courthouse square in the heart of the historic downtown district. It has served the community for almost 150 years as a private residence, a hotel and more recently, a law office. At this time, archaeological excavations are taking place on the grounds with plans underway to restore this historic structure.

Well, the effort is on now and a big extravaganza is going on in the park to raise money and the tables are sold at over 50 at a $1,000 apiece, just to go to the Bar-B-Q is at least $125.00 bucks, I would like to go but probably wouldn't get close enough to Tommy Lee Jones to get an autograph.

Anyway, I did this sign with an artist rendering my son-in-law printed on His Muto printer full size about 4'x 7'6" approx., the black part is a 5'x10' MDO sign board painted well and clear coated.

The City of San Saba, put the sign up as I watched and they did a good job, all I did was straw boss and not much of that. I just had to see it was up.

Just remember there where Indians around town back then.

Here is a site that show some java photos of the old hotel. Burden Hotel
